Good Times Funding Good Works For 18 Years - Matthews Alive Festival

Cultural center

One of the hidden gems of the Matthews Alive Festival is contained within the Matthews Community Center, which for the duration of the festival officially becomes the Matthews Alive Cultural Center. For those who have discovered it, they have learned it is much more than a refuge from a warm September day. Much more than just air-conditioning, the Cultural Center has many great offerings worth taking time to come inside for!

The Matthews Artist Guild:
The Matthews Artist Guild (MAG) offers a juried gallery display of artwork by local artists. The artwork ranges in medium, including Watercolor, Acrylics, Oil, etc… This show has continued to grow over the years, and also features pieces for sale. There are always some amazing works of art in this show, and what’s even better is they were created by folk’s right here in Matthews!

Dreamweaver’s of Matthews:
The Dreamweaver’s of Matthews introduced the latest element into the festival just a few years ago, and since then it has almost doubled in size. This new addition showcases the incredible skill and mastery that goes into basket weaving. These works of art are so much more than just another basket. Some have function, some just incredible form, some tell a story, and all are simply incredible to behold. You have to come on in, and see this show to believe it!

Matthews Alive Quilt Show:
The Matthews Alive Quilt Display has become a favorite place for festival participants to retreat to in the beautiful Matthews Community Center. Each year there are approx 50 quilts that are displayed. The original vision of this show was to provide an avenue for local quilters of all levels to display their quilts in a protected environment. The purpose now serves to continue to inspire people as well as to educate them about quilting as an art. Each year, festival goers are given the opportunity to vote on their favorite quilt for a Viewer's Choice Award. So please make your way to the show, you will be moved by some of these amazing works of handcrafted art!
