Mission

The Matthews Alive! Festival is a Labor Day weekend celebration dedicated to the support of local non-profit organizations through music, arts and community involvement.

Objectives

• To provide a venue for local non-profit organizations to raise funds by volunteering with the festival.

• To return all festival proceeds back to the community through these non-profit organizations.

• To provide a quality family-friendly atmosphere with entertainment, arts and crafts, special events, games and rides.

Matthews Alive! Inc. is a volunteer board of dedicated individuals who work year-round to make this four-day festival happen every Labor Day weekend. This group plans every detail of the festival. The members’ commitment level is a gift of time and talent to the Matthews community. In one weekend, the town of Matthews has more than 170,000 visitors who are able to experience the wonderful aspects of the community.

What Is This Festival?

The festival is a grand four-day family event. This year the dates are Aug 29 through Sept 1. Expect to see more than 150 arts and crafts vendors, 30 food vendors, one of the largest parades in the Southeast, the festival’s annual quilt show and the Kids Connection interactive area, as well as a fantastic Midway full of games and rides for all ages and 4 Stages of free entertainment all weekend.

Why Have Matthews Alive!?

The festival exists to provide a venue for nonprofit organizations to raise funds for their groups, who do everything from collecting trash and operating game booths, to participating in the parade on Saturday. Over the past 14 years, Matthews Alive! is proud to have been able to contribute over $500,000 back into the Matthews area. Presbyterian Hospital Matthews has partnered with Matthews Alive! to be the Presenting Sponsor once again this year. The festival and community is privileged to have such outstanding local corporate support. Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, the Town of Matthews, Hendrick Automotive Group, Lowes Foods, Windstream, WJZY/WMYT, K-104.7, Saturn of Charlotte, Wendy’s, Erickson, Presbyterian Hospital Ballantyne, Bojangles, Charlotte Metro Credit Union, and The Charlotte Observer are all top level sponsors for the 2007 festival. The festival could not happen without this generous corporate support.
